Why I now Hate embed codes!

Posted on June 3, 2008 at 3:42 pm (613) by Alex in General, Tech

Yes you read it right, I hate embed codes! Why, you ask? Because 99% of them aren’t XHTML Compliant. Since my blog redesign Rosana Made sure it would be XHTML and CSS Compliant (yeah the buttons on the bottom of the page actually mean something now) click them and see what it says:

So now it’s my job to keep it that way, Rosana gave me some tips on doing that. So whats the problem? Well if I want to insert for ex. a CNETTV video my Blog ain’t compliant anymore and that sucks, same with Flickr if I say to Flickr, ‘post this image on my blog’ it will post something that isn’t compliant. Why can’t big companies just make sure that everything is web standards compliant? Is it so hard to make a webstandards compliant embed? or for that matter a webstandards compliant browser?

Veronica Belmont’s next project will be?

Posted on April 7, 2008 at 4:46 pm (657) by Alex in General, Tech

Veronica Belmont, Producer and Host of Mahalo Daily has announced she will leave Mahalo to do two new projects. What these projects will be she did not tell, neither does Jason Calacanis tell us in his blog post about the matter. So it’s our job as her fans to find out. So what do we know?

  • She’s leaving mahalo.com
  • She will not join TWiT, Leo said “Calacanis priced her out of my market”
  • She won’t return to CNET, Lets Face it why would she go back?
  • She hates the commute every other week to LA, so it will be in San Francisco.
  • Calacanis said:

As many folks found out this week (including myself!) Veronica is moving on to do two new projects, the first is [ TKTKKTKTKTKTK ] and the second is [ TKTKTKTKKT TKTKKT with TKKTKTKTKT ].*

  • She wants to do more tech, no real source for this, but in the chatroom Jason Calacanis said she wanted to do more with tech, but mahalo daily is only about 20% about tech.

So what is available? I was thinking Engadget video? Leo said she might do Mainstream media, and other are saying she will go to revision3.com and then N74JW said there were some hints on the latest Tekzilla about a new host (at the beginning). So I started watching. Here’s some things that got said:

  • Patrick says: This was a temporary gig for you Mr. Chang.
Roger replies: It’s always a temporary gig
  • Patrick Says: A new Host has been signed
Roger replies: That could be… Maybe
  • Patrick Says: Male/Female?
    Roger replies: maybe
  • Patrick Says: Have they been on the show yet? (note by me: They??)
    Roger replies: Maybe

And at the end:

  • Patrick says: Good show coming up next week? New host coming up next week?
Roger says: Actually the fifth.. uoh I can’t say that can I?
  • Patrick and Roger agree: Sometime in April
Roger: Could be sooner could be later.

So what does this mean? Roger leaving the show? male/female replacement? Could it be Veronica?
I think it can be Veronica, just some hints I have summed up:

Could this be?

If so, why didn’t Revision3.com Tell us about this? and if this is true, what is the ‘First’ Thing? Engadget Video? her own video project at revision3.com?

Something else on Veronica’s Blog:

Tuesday: Tekzilla! I love guest hosting this show, mostly because it means I get to hang out with Patrick and Roger all afternoon.

I’ll let you guy’s take your own conclusion, but please discuss on in the comments area.

Building Mahalo Pages

Posted on March 26, 2008 at 10:48 pm (950) by Alex in General, Personal

I was just watching Jason Calacanis his Ustream channel, and we were all creating Mahalo search pages for mahalo.com. The great thing about mahalo.com is that it’s spam free because it’s human powered, in other words, theres humans checking every link if its spam or not. One of the great things is, Jason gives things away for helping Mahalo. Anyone can make a search result, and because it gets checked by paid Humans its spam free. So just give Mahalo.com a try or check out my profile
